“Inspired by ambient soundscapes and Djrum…”
Following outings on Version, 3024, Le Chatroom and Brotherhood Soundsystem, Yak makes moves on R&S with a 5-track 12″ inspired by fellow label runner Djrum.
The young producer’s rolling subs, tickly percussion and sharp sonics has transposed across a number of fields within underground club music over recent years, tipped by the likes of Ben UFO, Martyn, Objekt, and notably responsible for ‘Mido’, his 2017 heavyweight roller that landed on several end of year lists.
Yak’s new record, Termina, comes described as a collection of “rugged broken beat techno”, with the Sheffield producer stating tracks were constructed after a “week long binge of listening to ambient soundscapes, movie & video game soundtracks and fellow R&S allum DjRum’s album on repeat.”
Out May 17th, listen to ‘Wide Eye’ below.
