A film on the infamous rave warrior has finally landed.
In the summer of 2000 German visual artist Matthias Fritsch took a camera with him to the Fuckparade (a counter movement to Berlin’s Loveparade festival) and recorded a 4-min clip of footage that, 6 years later, would become one of the internet’s first ever viral videos – Techno Viking.
In the time since Fritsch was taken to court by the Techno Viking himself and won, and has now crowdfunded a documentary that lays out 15 years worth of cultural analysis and tells the rather complicated story of the phenomenon in full.
“The documentary follows the Technoviking phenomenon over 15 years from an experimental art film to a viral video that inspired an internet community to the creation of an art figure, thousands of remixes, besides countless other forms of commercial and non commercial reactions, and finally put the producer of the original artifact into the court room.”
