Watch a short film on Brixton Rapper Ty’s new album, A Work Of Heart.
TweetAcclaimed Brixton rapper and producer Ben Chijoke, better known as Ty, has been a continuously influential figure of the British hip hop since first emerging in the mid ’90s.
Know for his honest portrayals of London life and refusal to tailor his sound for mainstream hip hop culture, the mercury-nominated artist’s lengthy discography has seen album releases via Black Dada and BBE, as well as production work and collaborations with De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Roots Manuva and Tony Allen.
Ty’s latest project, A Work Of Heart, deals with the subject matters of Brixton, depression, poverty, racism and family under an imaginative hip hop setting, with Ty creating an album where each beat, sound, and idea was thought-out, then thematically and coherently fused to create what he considers a perfect whole.
With features from Durrty Goodz, Tall Black Guy and Wayne Francis from United Vibrations, A Work Of Heart comes via London’s Jazz re:freshed and today we present the album’s accompanying short film.
Detailing Ty’s passion and thoughts behind the personal project, watch in full below.
A Work Of Heart will land on March 2 via Jazz re:freshed.
