V.I.V.E.K Launches System Music With ‘Asteroids’ / ‘Over My Head’

Stream the debut release on V.I.V.E.K’s new label System Music ahead of their first birthday event next month.

System Music takes it’s name from V.I.V.E.K‘s famed dubstep night System. Until recently it was run with Mala (who talks in-depth on the night in an interview with Mixmag), but now V.I.V.E.K is left to man the event and sound system alone, and his first move is to create a label.

From day one System’s focus has been, as the name suggests, on the sound quality. V.I.V.E.K built an entirely analogue stack and emphasised its importance by stripping away all the frills associated with clubnights these days. The material System Music plans to release will presuambly reflect that same way of thinking.

The inaugural release is set for March 11, V.I.V.E.K‘s ‘Asteroids’/’Over My Head’. ‘Asteroids’ has been championed on Rinse FM for some time, and for its 12″ release, comes backed with a vocal version and a more uptempo Om Unit remix that managed to retain the immersive qualities of the original. It is jammed with the meditative low-end’s his sound system was made for, and is a clear marker of the label’s direction.

Stream ‘Over My Head ft. Mel Dymond’ and RSVP to System’s first birthday on February 16 here.
