Benji B’s club night will be graced by an eclectic roster of talent at their XOYO residency over the next three months.
With Skream’s action packed tenure as XOYO resident soon to draw to a close, Radio 1 selector Benji B has been announced as the latest figure to take up the Saturday slot at the East London club. He’ll be hosting his beloved club night Deviation – already a monthly fixture at XOYO, at the club every Saturday from April through June. A man with an undoubtedly impressive contact book, Benji B will be joined by a wide range of guests during his run, as things kick off with an appearance from the newly Kanye and Drake approved Skepta 4th April.
The following week sees regular sparring partners Four Tet and Floating Points drop by, with former Plastic People owner Abdul Forsyth joining them for a night set to capture the now defunct club’s vibe. Highlight of subsequent weeks include a trip down memory lane with Todd Edwards and Zinc 18th April, Grime godfather Wiley lining up alongside Hyperdub boss Kode9 and enigmatic producer Zomby 25th April, sets from French Deep House maestro Pépé Bradock and Gilles Peterson 9th May, a headline slot from Glaswegian super producer Hudson Mohawke 6th June, and an appearance from Motor City legend Moodymann 13th June.
Room 2 during the residency is given over to a host of interesting meanwhile, with the likes of Jungle icon Fabio, Hoya:Hoya resident Jon K and YoYo’s Seb Chew amongst the guests upstairs during the run. Interestingly 27th June, sees Goldie host a retrospective of his label’s seminal 90’s session at Blue Note, with Doc Scott and Ant TC1 as guests.
