The Scottish composer and drone choir will conduct a liminal ceremony, re-embodying digital instrumentation and live electronics.
Following performances with composers Gazelle Twin and Hatis Noit, electronic drone choir NYX continue their series of live shows alongside other musicians, this time collaborating with Scottish composer and producer Iona Fortune.
Inspired by Eastern philosophy and oriental textures, Iona uses a mixture of both organic and electronic instruments like the Guzheng, Gamelan and EMS Synthi AKS to build a meditative sound that comes tagged under the “Fourth World” bracket.
Releasing her first in an 8 album series on Optimo Music in 2017, Iona has recently found commissions at Berlin’s Atonal Festival and Dark Mofo in Tasmania. Her live performance with NYX will see her continue to do conduct a sonic exploration of the I Ching, its symbology, inherent energy & cosmological significance.
Taking place February 3rd at London’s Pickle Factory, DJ support will come from PAN affiliate Flora Yin-Wong and London collective Commune. Speaking on the event series, NYX state that they have been “an extraordinary opportunity to combine the experimental brains of so many female artists in one room, who have offered their imagination and generosity in the development of NYX.”
