Looking at club culture from 1960 through to March 2020, ‘Ten Cities’ presents ground-breaking research.
Travelling to cities across Africa and Europe, the project provides a retrospective and broad look at how significant club spaces are as both experimental and protected spaces.
The 500-page book contains twenty one essays covering club scenes in Nairobi, Cairo, Kyiv, Johannesburg, Berlin, Naples, Luanda, Lagos, Bristol, Lisbon.
Bringing together contributions from cultural scientists, music journalists, club activists, record collectors, musicologists, urbanists, and historians. The project offers a neat array of differing and unique perspectives.
