Featuring music by The Wild Bunch, DJ Shadow, Thom Yorke, Dr. Octagon and DJ Krush.
Charting the life of influential label owner, DJ, producer and latterly musician James Lavelle, ‘The Man from Mo’Wax’ draws upon meticulous research and exclusive access to Lavelle’s rare/unseen personal video library (as well as DJ Shadow’s), with debut director Matthew Jones assembling archive footage and original interviews.
Described as an “honest and unflinching portrayal achieved by the protagonist’s brave and candid permission for nothing to be concealed”, the film soundtrack features music by artists who inspired Lavelle and his legendary trip-hop label, with sounds from Marie ‘Queenie’ Lyons, pre Massive Attack bandThe Wild Bunch, DJ Shadow, La Funk Mob, Attica Blues, Dr. Octagon, DJ Krush and Lavelle’s productions as UNKLE.
