Machine Woman, JAY, RKSS to perform at Somerset House Studios this weekend

This weekend sees Somerset House Studios host a series of talks, installations, live performances and DJ sets as part of (Inter-).

(Inter-) is “an ambitious initiative that connects an active network of female-identifying artists and curators working in the digital arts and immersive storytelling sectors in Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and the UK”. It’s born out of Amplify, a collective of female-identifying artists, and digital storytellers from across the globe, who first featured at MUTEK Montreal 2018 and then at later editions in Buenos Aries and Mexico City.

Spread across Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June, the series includes a DJ set from London-based producer JAY. A co-founder of the internationally recognised SIREN collective, and booking assistant for Poly artists, JAY has seen acclaim for her releases on Midland’s Intergraded and Higglers.

RKSS also performs. A DJ set they’ll perform on Saturday night will be joined by a chair on a panel discussing ‘feminist/gendered approaches to digital art’.

Russia’s Machine Woman features at Somerset House Studios as well, traversing minimal rhythms with rugged techno and the experimental soundscapes she’s so faithfully recognised for.

(Inter-) looks to be a weekend rich in culture, creativity and identity.
