Kode 9 remixes Japanese game music for Hyperdub’s ‘Diggin in the Carts’

Hear 9’s remix of Koichi Ishaibashi’s ‘Bad Data’ now.

First releasing a compilation in 2017, Hyperdub’s Diggin in the Carts project is a celebration of rare 8 and 16-bit Japanese game music and the influence it has had worldwide on contemporary club sounds.

Originally put together by Nick Dwyer and Kode 9, the Hyperdub big chief has since taken a live a/v set to cities like Barcelona and Tokyo with visuals produced by Koji Morimoto, the anime director responsible for the artwork on the original compilation.

Hyperdub are now set to release a remix EP of edits  produced by Kode 9. His first EP for several years, the label boss reanimates works by Soshi Hosoi, Yuzo Koshiro, Koichi Ishaibashi, Tadahiro Nitta, adding his ’80/160bpm rhythms onto the classic 8bit and 16bit melodies’.
