The past few years have been a busy time for Jake Martin. An extensive global touring schedule has seen the Bristolian producer, better known as Hodge, bring the house down in China, Australia, the United States and India in 2018 alone. On top of this non-stop journey around clubs in all four corners of the globe, Martin has found the time to produce fresh new material: a collaborative track with Ishan Sound on Tectonic, and the four-track Beneath Two Moons EP on Berceuse Heroique. On the 29th November, the esteemed London label is set to drop Hodge’s Exogenesis EP, marking the fifty-eighth release on the imprint.
In trademark Hodge fashion, the EP channels a truly hybrid sound of broken percussion and rumbling basslines, treading the techno-dubstep tightrope emblematic of the South-Western city. Intricate and delicate in composition, with an obvious attention to detail, this textural masterclass is anything but cute. Powerful 808 subs, mind-bending vocal samples and forceful drumwork characterise the release, which is sure to test any system to its limits. Check out opening-track ‘Raptors’ below.
Out on the 29th November, you can find out more information about the release via Berceuse Heroique’s Facebook here.
