Burn off that turkey and trimmings at Brixton Jamm on the 28th.
Treehouse are celebrating their 4th birthday this week, no mean feat for a collaborative at all. Unfortunately however, this party will also be the last time the team put on an event. The new year will see the group embark on new challenges and test new waters, leaving Treehouse behind in the history books. To mark the occasion and celebrate the last four years, some heavyweight selectors have been called upon to soundtrack this last hoorah.
One of Bristol’s most in-demand disc-jockeys, Jake Martin, a.k.a. Hodge, has had a manic 2018. The Livity Sound and Berceuse Heroique affiliate has ventured far and wide over the past 12 months, touring around North America, India and China alongside closer territories. Despite this nomadic touring schedule, Martin has also found time to knuckle down in the studio. Two individual EPs on Berceuse Heroique demonstrated trademark percussive rhythm and quality sound design, whilst a collaborative effort with Laurel Halo on Livity Sound expertly married the two producers’ expert abilities. Alongside Ishan Sound on Tectonic, Martin channelled the true Bristol dubstep sound to great effect, producing an eerie and deep floor filler.
Joining Martin on the bill are two London-based selectors and label bosses: Mosca and Ahadadream. Over the course of their respective NTS and Balamii residencies, both DJs have consistently spun hybrid sonics and dancefloor heaters alike, pushing boundaries in the process. The two have also tested their unique sounds on the international stage this year, with Mosca soundtracking clubs in countries such as Mexico, Germany and Slovakia amongst others, and Ahadadream venturing out to South Korea and Australia too. The 28th also holds some nostalgic value for Mosca: it’s the first time he’s hit the rave with Hodge since the early days of Martin’s career.
Honestly I think the last time I was with Hodge in a rave (Bristol obviously) he was whatever we’re calling an ‘artist liaison’ nowadays… bringing drinks while I was playing… he’ll be headlining this party in Brixton later this month… wicked how times change, big up Jake 🙂 pic.twitter.com/2z9D4R6Rc8
