Launching only two years ago, FOLD has quickly gained ‘institutional” status in the dance music community for its forward-thinking attitude to clubbing. Continuing on their journey, they launch a new in-house label that seeks to push forward a similar mindset, marking the start of something new for FOLD and maintaining their essential presence in the electronic music world. Their first release comes from family-member and resident, Gareth Wild in the form of ‘Common Assault EP.
A key player on the UK underground circuit, Gareth Wild has already left a significant mark with his labels Ear To The Ground and LDNwht. Finding his formative and thorough education in the 90’s rave scene, his ears became attuned to a particular repertoire of dancefloor sounds from Jungle through to Techno. Later going on to book seminal Techno events across London.
Primed for heavy hitting sound systems the world over and tested out on FOLD’s very own dancefloors, the forthcoming EP encompasses four tracks of thunderous, raw energy, likened to the general vibe of the club. Inclusive of Wild’s distinctive low end drums and droney pads, everything from acid wobbles and crisp hi hats, through to haunting vocals and explosive breakdowns are found inside. Set to be an ever present in the record bags of hard hitting DJs across the techno spectrum.
Due for release on a limited run of neon coloured vinyl, the EP will be distributed via Triple Vision, available in record stores and via Bandcamp.
FOLD’s first release, Gareth Wild’s ‘Common Assault’ EP will be available 25th September. Check the snippets below.
