Terre Thaemlitz will join Christopher Rau, Moomin and others at a showcase for the Hamburg label at Oval Space tomorrow.
Established in 2006, Smallville Records – and its eponymous record store, has become an institution for lovers of Deep House worldwide. Serving as a platform for the likes of STL, Julius Steinhoff and others, each release on the label is accompanied by distinctive and highly collectible sleeve art from the inimitable Stefan Marx.
With Marx’s artwork adorning the flyers of newly opened sister venue The Pickle Factory, its appropriate that Smallville’s first London showcase of 2016 should take place this Friday 5th February at Bethnal Green’s Oval Space. Helmed up by mainstays Christopher Rau and Moomin – who’s new album ‘A Minor Thought’ can be streamed in full before its release tomorrow, the showcase is highlighted by an appearance from outspoken electronic music icon DJ Sprinkles.
Now residing in Japan, Terre Thaemlitz is as much renowned for her forthright views on gender politics and club culture as her head turning discography and transcendent DJ sets. A purveyor of lush House music interpretations, she’s very much at home on this stacked line up. Get your tickets here.
