‘Bright Sparks’ Project Documents Early Electronic Music Pioneers

The multi-media project comes with the support of such electronic legends as Vince Clarke and Brian Eno.

‘Bright Sparks’ began life as a concept album by Sheffield group I Monster, intended to pay tribute to the various people and companies involved in the early days of the synthesiser. Looking to present the record in a more interesting way, the duo turned to vintage synth curators Dave Spiers and Chris Macleod, and the idea developed into a combined album/documentary package.

The album was recorded using synths featured in the film, and includes collaborations with Stewart Lee and John Foxx. The documentary includes interviews with key personnel from Moog, Buchla, Mellotron and many other companies, as well as talking heads such as Underworld, Daniel Miller, Ultravox and Adrian Utley.
