Killer techno and 2-step mutations from Brighton favourite Charles Green.
A pillar of the Brighton club scene, Patterns continues to act as a beacon of underground taste on the south coast. Part of the fabric is local favourite Charles Green, who’s trusted longtime residency has seen him regularly spin alongside heavyweights like Overmono, Joy O, Grooverider and Upsammy. He’s also no stranger to production, building up a rep for raw, analogue techno over the last two years via outlets like four Triangles, Revenged Techniques and Hardgroove.
Along with his own party, First Floor, Green’s involvement with Patterns’ new event series FOCAL, will shortly see him share the booth all night with Ilian Tape wonderkid Skee Mask. Ahead of the dance, we’ve locked in Green for a killer mix of broken techno and 2-step mutations, with some words on the mix from the man below.
“My aim for this one was to have a totally open canvas and not be concerned about switching up the tempos or flavours during the limited time I have. It’s always so different when playing in clubs regularly and especially having a residency for nearly a decade in the same space. Some weeks you might have dropped some garage in the middle or a random IDM track to finish, so I guess I wanted to get that free and open nature across with this recording. It’s also a nice warmup for the all nighter with Skee Mask next month where there will be no musical restrictions at all!”
Catch Charles Green alongside Skee Mask for Focal at Patterns on March 14th.
