Gloopy sonics and low-swung pressure from the vaults of Swamp 81 bass head Lamont.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with a 12″ on Durkle Disco, Bristol’s Lamont has been turning heads with his grade A flavours of low-swung bass pressure.
Landing on labels like Paper Cranes and Keysound Recordings, it’s Loefah’ Swamp 81 camp where the producer feels most at home, having allowed his experiments to get more freaky with age that puts him in line with wobbler specialists like Airhead and Commodo. He’s provided beats for MC’s like Grime Sickers, Beezy and Nico Lindsay, and it’s these stripped back templates where the sparse and playful shots in Lamont’s artillery fire so precisely.
His latest record for the 81 posse, Detached, cuts off any guest vocal play and reminds us of the damage the South Western producer can inflict on the dance, with four cuts of gloopy halfstep madness and sharp left turns that together bring fresh ideas to the worlds of dubstep, grime and techno.
