Hyp 238: Classic Coke

UK production collective Grade 10 International emerged earlier this year with the ‘Misery’ 12″ from Prayer and Coop’s Kollaps project (who also provided a haunting remix of Darkstar’s ‘You Don’t Need A Weatherman’ in 2013). Formed of eight producers that channel the UK club tropes of Jungle, Drum & Bass, Garage and Grime, the collective merges the heady nostalgia of these past underground movements with forward-thinking ideals and production.

Other Grade 10 crew members include ForeverForever, Eightball, Nokia Boys, Unslaved and Classic Coke, who offered up a stellar Footwork remix for old-school purist LooseWomen’s recent ‘Nobody / Slides’ release. Classic Coke features on Hyp mix duty this week with a rapid fire assortment of weighty club cuts, focussing heavily on Footwork. Opening with an infectious number from the late DJ Rashad’s ‘6613’ archive EP, the Teklife crew are well represented throughout, with tracks from DJ Manny and DJ Taye all making an appearance. Classic Coke throws in some of his own tracks, including a brilliant re-rub of Kollaps’ ‘Could This Be’, alongside an adrenaline-soaked number from fellow Grade 10 member Eightball. There’s dance floor ammunition abound in this one, press play below…
