Hyp 162: Jonny Dub
Tweet
One of that elusive breed, the career DJ, Jonny Dub drops a lively Hyp 162 to shake you out of your stupor on this chilly Monday afternoon. A clubland institution in his native Manchester, Jonny teamed up with Illum Sphere back in 2008 to start Hoya:Hoya. Now on the verge of celebrating its 5th Birthday, Hoya:Hoya has gone on from strength to strength, now birthing a label that has put out records from the likes of Blue Daisy and Altered Natives. Jonny’s stuck has risen with that of his night, finding himself appearing at the distinguished likes of L.A’s Low End Theory and London’s Plastic People, in addition to holding down a residency at his hometown’s Warehouse Project.
For his Hyp mix Jonny displays the effortless diversity that has won him fans at home and around the world, bringing in cuts that cross every genre boundary and dabble in every style. Present day innovators like Om Unit and Machinedrum get blended in comfortably with a classic from The Jones Girls and a smoked-out instrumental from Madlib. Set to turn out alongisde Flako, Throwing Snow, Ital Tek and Synkro at Tempo Clash’s party at Autumn Street Studios next Friday 31st January, Hyp 162 shows why Jonny Dub makes a living from playing records.
Tempo Clash have also just announced their return to Corsica Studio with Akkord, Special Guest, IAMNOBODI, Djrum, Visionist and more, head here for info and tickets.
