Hyp 047: Morris Cowan
Tweet
Formerly known as just ‘Taylor’, Manchester-based Adam Taylor is the man behind the Morris Cowan moniker, a techno and electronica tag that has been picked up on by labels as diverse as Raffertie’s Super, Traum Schallplatten offshoot Zaubernuss, and of course the original Wigflex crew from which he hails.
Leaning on the most open-ended of house, mixing it with all the overt sensibilities of the finest bass music, and drawing from a myriad of styles from dub to classic electronica and rock, Taylor has been busy of late, releasing his ‘Circa’ album on Zaubernuss earlier this year, and following it up with the forthcoming ‘Strands’ EP, not to mention a second album scheduled for release on Wigflex by the end of the year.
His Hyp manages to cram a world of sound into just 33 minutes, as Taylor takes us from refined techno, through to current bass from the likes of Martyn and Randomer, and leaving us with a taste of current electonic beatsmiths Slint & Young Montana? – short but sweet, and not to be missed.
