The South London soul futurists come together for a blissful ride.
South London beatsmith Jeen Bassa, the youngest of the DeenMamode brothers (Mo Kolours & Reginald Omas Mamode IV), steps up next for Tenderlonious’ mighty 22a crew with a fresh batch of future rare-groove experiments and wonky beats.
Cassava Pone follows albums All My People and Timewaves, and sees Bassa look to his Mauritian roots as he vibes to the aboriginal and pan African sounds from his fatherland.
Strictly a vinyl only, limited one-off pressing, Bassa pulls in familiar cats like Al Dobson Jr and his talented brothers, yet it’s his cut with vocalist Shepherd Manyika that truly hits our soul. The fellow South London native blissfuly rides to Bassa’s woozy piano melodies and broken rhythms.
