Get lost inside the virtual realm of ZOOSPA.
Two producers who’ve continued to rewrite the rule book of electronic dance music via a long list of individual and collaborative aliases, Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum’s combined experiments as J-E-T-S first came to light in 2012 with a four-track EP on Berlin-based label Leisure System, followed by another in 2015. Earlier this year, after almost seven years since their inception, the pair returned with their debut album ZOOSPA, a colourful and wonky 12-track take on R&B, electro-soul and club funk that finds Edgar and Machinedrum having more fun with their mutual influences and cosmic palettes than ever before.
Featuring vocal performances from artists like Dawn Richard, Mykki Blanco, Rochelle Jordan, KingJet, It’s the session with Tkay Maidza, ‘Real Truth’, that we present to you today as new video based on the artwork that Edgar’s girlfriend Pilar Zeta made and edited by the man himself.
Speaking on the result, Edgar says “the video is a “4D” perspective on how the ZOOSPA sculpture is formed. Thought as the first physical manifestation of form and how it collects together to become light projected down into the 3D for physicality. It’s echoing Tkay’s words about creation, but as a juxtaposition that creates a J-E-T-S hybrid experience.”
Zoospa is out now on Innovative Leisure Records.
