After appearances on Mystery Train Recordings and Maltine Records, Kyoto-based producer Stones Taro returns to Scuffed Recordings, the London imprint ran by our friend at Reprezent Radio High Class Filter and Definite Party Material’s Ian DPM.
Marking the label’s first release of 2019, Stones Taro’s After High EP sees the Japanese musician continue to develop his signature style, paying homage to the UK’s dance music heritage with four tracks influenced by garage, rave, acid, and breaks.
Our pick of the bunch has to be ‘Holy Holly’, a lush roller that tangles twisted breaks, airy pads and howling vocals into a bracing dose of rave euphoria. Listen in full below.
After High is out on January 25 on Scuffed Recordings.
