First listen: Sanso – ‘Manfred’ (Wilson Records)

Chicago tinged house from Wilson Records newbie Sanso.

London’s Wilson Records boasts an impressive and deep back catalogue. Their bandcamp page is stacked with house gold, and latest offering the Xxxpress EP from Sanso continues in the same vein. The label newcomer looks to Chicago for inspiration on this impressive six-tracker which is due for release June 18.

Wilson Records (aptly named after Tom Hanks’ volleyball companion in 2000 film Castaway) has kept up a consistent output for the last 7 years, first debuting the Underground Warriors EP part 1 back in 2012. Since then, the label has put out upwards of 25 releases, all bearing a fresh house quality that has become their trademark.

The Xxxpress EP and namely  ‘Mafred’ from Sanso carry a rough persona, with subtle nods to Chicago institution Cajual, and dutch power house Djax-Up beats. ‘Manfred’ is a machine driven cut built simply around a raw kick and eargoggle electronics. It’s a short ride at just shy of 4 mins, but it’ll certainly do what it was intended to do; ignite the dancefloor.

You can listen to ‘Manfred’ below.

Xxxpress EP is out June 18 on Wilson Records.
