First Listen: Obsequies – ‘But Beautiful…’ (Knives)

With previous releases from J.G Biberkopf and head honcho Kuedo, the Planet Mu associated label Knives returns with a divergent release, from the emerging Belgian producer Obsequies.

Entitled Organn, the debut 6 tracker delves into the concept of love and duality, with influence from Isidore-Lucien Ducasse’s poem, ‘Les Chants de Maldoror’.

The EP is an antagonistic narrative but also spreads into a lucid and cinematic tale of left field timbres and mutating sounds, to form a uniquely intense yet ambient 30 minute story.

Ahead of the release, we’ve selected the Belgian’s final number for the spotlight. Obsequies creates a cohesive report of glitchy noises and spacial melodies in the track ‘But Beautiful …’.

With mimicking elements and hints of rhythmic structure, the finale track rounds off the left field EP with a extended melancholic vibe.

The Organn EP is out on 17 November on Knives. More info here
