Modified Man is the culmination of talent of Dave Koor and Adam Scrimshire.
Koor individually is the prolific keyboardist of The Expansions, and also to a number of live bands like Hector Plimmer, Andrew Ashong and Connie Constance. Scrimshire’s self titled project has previously caught the attention of notable figures like Gilles Peterson, whilst also heading the trusty Wah Wah 45s imprint.
With a joint passion for soul, jazz and their hometown London, they combine to explore broken beat, boogie and house in their upcoming release Modifications: Set 2.
Having immersed themselves in a heap of old hardware, they are aiming to celebrate their nostalgia rather than wallow, and to infuse the physical excitement you get when using such equipment.
‘Vanilla Gorilla’ is a fine example of the culmination of styles and influences, supplying a heavy beat base with more playful, free jazz sounding synth lines and chord progressions over the top.
Modifications: Set 2 will be out April 23rd on vinyl and digital.
