Cabin Fever have been putting on parties in the capital for almost a year now. Pushing cutting edge, leftfield techno, their formula has remained simple; intimate venues, exciting djs and sweaty atmospheres.
This year sees Cabin Fever exploring pastures new with their, recently set up, label Control Freak, in which they look to unearth promising producers engineering the club cuts they so regularly endorse. Their first release, Translucence comes from London’s Keplrr. Having self-released the electro-laced Digital Shadows/Reacon EP last September, its clear that Keplrr’s main aim here is to pin down a more UK-centric sound, which he’s achieved with flare and intricacy.
He arrives at Control Freak with a healthy four-tracker rich in Warp-esque textures, jungle tinged breaks and some weighty sub bass thrown in for good measure. We’ve got an exclusive first listen of title track ‘Translucence’, and it’s a lesson in tension and promise. The dreamy synth line goads an apprehensive breakbeat into a razor sharp melee of kick drums and jungle-infused shimmies and rattles.
With support from Ben UFO, Or:la and Minor Science to name a few, this probably wont be the last you hear of Keplrr. Tuck in to ‘Translucence’ below.
