First Listen: Kamikaze Space Programme & Eomac – ‘Environment 1’ (Eotrax)

Distorted frequencies from the all-star pairing.

Stepping up for the final release in the Eotrax collaboration series is hell-raising techno talisman Kamikaze Space Programme, joining label boss Eomac over two room-filling tracks.

Both artists have cemented their reputations over years of quality output. KSP, who’s career in music started with drum and bass production, has evolved his sound to become more emblematic of his current Berlin base. Past releases on labels such as Trust, Mord and Neighbourhood have demonstrated his brutish, distorted sonics, with this joint effort proving no different.

Eomac, 1/2 of Irish duo Lakker, has released on labels such as The Trilogy Tapes, Killekill and Stroboscopic Artefacts since his maiden EP in 2010. Since setting up his Eotrax label last year, Paula Temple, Sean Carpio and Demian Licht have all contributed to this collaborative series.

‘Environment 1’ takes inspiration from grime, jungle, noise, dub and techno to produce a monster, sub-testing weapon. With a strong low-end game and deafening kicks, the track is a dense amalgamation of these genre’s production values, making categorisation nye-on impossible. Crunching hats spring into the frame, partnering the ever-present kicks. Listen to the track below.
