First Listen: JV & Palf- ‘Out Front’ (Panel Audio)
TweetSydney based duo JV & Palf, release their new EP ‘T4’ today as part of the Panel Audio family.
‘T4’, named after the duo’s local train-line, is a special drum-heavy record with four club-ready tracks. Given the current circumstances, ‘T4’ is set to bang dancefloors when it’s safe to.
JV & Palf have seen support from heavyweights by the likes of Re:ni/Laksa, DJ Plead and LCY. The tracks in the EP uncover high energy-driven drumlines that are set to make the listener play the tracks non-stop while reminiscing about pre-quarantine clubbing nights. This new EP follows the duo’s debut one ‘Wren’, a compilation of remixes in which the artists explored Sydney’s underground sounds, making of the debut EP a genre-bending one.
We have the exclusive of the final track ‘Out Front’, which comes in heavier and presents an underlying darker tone than its preceding tracks. With this tune, JV & Palf’s EP is rounded off with a vigorous bang that leaves us wanting more from the duo. ‘Out Front’ presents the most elements from techno and is the most dance-focused tune of the release.
‘En Route’ is the first track of the duo’s second EP and makes use of the signature drumline narrative employed in previous works by JV & Palf. This first track introduces the listener to the EP’s evocative mood and it exhibits the recurrent background drumline, present in the tracks to follow. ‘Tangara’ is the name of the second track and it suggests a heavier influence by UK bass. This track has an upbeat energy that ravishes the listener and makes him absorbed in ‘T4’s sonic expedition. With ‘Nyx’, the listener is completely immersed in the journey proposed by JV & Palf, the drumline still serves as the main storyteller but this time it’s pushed into the ethereal, forging a meditative tune.
T4 will land in Bandcamp via Panel Audio today 3rd of August.
