Grime mutations from Canada.
Following on from last year’s Environment Standards EP, Calgary’s Homesick has returned with an injection of grimey sound design – lending his jungle-infused productions to Philadelphia’s street bass innovators Seclusiasis.
Homesick’s amorphous production style and long term fascination with jungle – nurtured through his running of the footwork and jungle Tumblr blog – has resulted in the Legendary EP, a release combining his proclivity for skittering experimentation with modernist grime flourishes.
Standout ‘We Call Them’ is a perfect example of the EP’s fusion. Featuring the vocal talents of MC Ouda Ouda, the track’s downtempo ragga jungle template is channelled through staccato footwork rhythms, with MC Ouda Ouda’s vocal contributions filling the gaps among rich layers of noise.
