With scattered pieces of music across imprints like Gabriel Prokofiev’s NonClassical and iK7, the relatively new and mysterious producer Classical Mechanics finds home on Leeds’ 20/20 Vision with his new EP, Count Basis.
The record sees Classical Mechanics greet us four original compositions that reside in the world of glitchy electronica, backed with a club-friendly remix from Simian Mobile Disco’s Jas Shaw.
With heavily detailed arrangements and a playful approach to sound design, it’s easy to see why his work has been compared to the compositions of notable electronic artists like Floating Points, Four Tet, Margaret Dygas and Shigeto. Yet the fragile and rather curious analogue moments he’s able to imagine across the EP show an artist who’s happy to channel his own path, with the outcome offering pleasant results.
Count Basis is out now on 20/20 Vision.
