Enjoy an exclusive listen to Chesslo Junior’s new EP before it drops on DRUT Records on May 19th.
Chesslo Junior has been recruited to Kelpe’s DRUT Recordings for his first ever vinyl release, the 6 track EP finds Chesslo delivering a mixed bag of Hip-Hop inspired beatscapes and trippy House jams. More mature than pervious efforts, these tracks variate in style and tempo, flowing like a cohesive album.
During the production of this record Chesslo worked in a music library by day, locating songs and music for advertisements, this role sent him seeking a creative antidote from the mundane jingles – distorted sounds and heavy textural noises served as the solution. The sound design on this record is wonderful and the organic quality comes from various field recordings.
‘Hyroglyph’ is a slow, glitchy track, ‘Hammond Noise’ is a mid-tempo piece of House with bells that shimmer over a robotic vocal, ‘Shimmer’ matches an infectious melody with a kicking low-end, ‘KTO’ is a hazy beat-scape, ‘Belgrade’ is another well structured dancefloor orientated House track and the ghostly vocals present on ‘Get A Grip’ is Chesslo’s first time experimenting with his own voice. You’ll definitely be hearing some of these jams doing the rounds this festival season. A dazzling effort from a promising young producer who has found his feet.
