First Listen: Black Noi$e – ‘Jump Off A Building’ (Vanity Press Records)

Unpolished club sonics from a Motor City rising star.

Though he’s still a relatively new figure on the electronic circuit, Detroit based producer Black Noi$e has certainly been putting the work in behind the scenes.

Real name Rob Mansel, the Motor City native first made waves as Black Noi$e with a self-titled EP on the excellent Vanity Press imprint May of 2017, but long before that he was DJ’ing for M.I.A, making hip hop beats with producers like Skywlkr, and playing bass guitar in hardcore bands.

His unorthodox take on dance music puts him in line with the more recognised producers of his city, as like them, he’s able to find a common balance between starlit melodies and gritty electronics, a production style that has more recently caught the attention of fellow Detroit man Shigeto.

Now returning to Vanity Press with his first full length, Illusions comes in the form of 10 tracks and sees Black Noi$e wonder through various club styles all with one eye firmly on the heritage of his city.

Today we’re able to give you a first listen of album cut, ‘Jump Off A Building’. Whilst we’re hoping the title isn’t intended for us, the track certainly instills feelings of fear and panic, as sharp sonics and dissonant stabs similarly hiss their way to a never ending finish line.

Illusions is out November 24 on Vanity Press Records.
