French club music platform, Couvre x Chefs ready their next release from co-founder, BJF.
Starting out in 2011, Couvre x Chefs is the passion project of French DJ’s and producers, Philou CxC and BJF. Together they have built an online platform curating the best in emerging club music. Comprising an online magazine, events and a residency with Rinse France, they extended their curation with a label arm last year, putting out the ‘Plage Club Vol. 1’ various artists comp. They now prep their next release. A solo outing from CxC co-founder, BJF, titled ‘Iridescent’ EP.
An adjective that means “to show many bright colours that change with movement.”, BJF’s ‘Iridescent’ EP is a real representation of the artists way with music. Multifaceted and dynamic, sewing together parts from grime, UK Funky, kuduro, baile funk and dembow and UK. This debut via CxC follows a series of self-released Bandcamp edits and bootlegs that saw French rapper Niska pitched against Nervous Horizon’s TSVI, edits of Skepta, Jorja Smith and even a UK Funky flip of Burna Boy’s ‘Ph City Vibration’.
Today we have the first listen on track ‘Jamuna’. A heavy-hitting drum track starring the Japanese shakuhachi flute, the buoyant rhythm and programming of Jamuna makes for an undeniable body-mover. We can’t wait to hear it on the floor when clubs are back on form.
BJF’s ‘Iridescent’ EP is out 23rd September via Couvre x Chefs.
