First Listen: PINKLUNCH – ‘Plexus’ (Pre-)

Having spent the last two decades cementing his position as a highly acclaimed figure in both audio and visual culture, Trevor Jackson needs little introduction.

Beginning his career as a designer and art director, Jackson founded the influential Output Recordings in 1996. Working as a DJ, producer, remixer, sound designer, and artist, his diverse creative output is brought together by an uncompromising commitment to artistry and innovation.

His most recent offering under the alias PINKLUNCH is the inaugural release on Pre-, one of two new imprints created by Jackson to share his unreleased archive recordings with the world.

The album, PINK LUNCH, has reportedly been gathering dust in hibernation for 15 years, only to be rediscovered by Jackson in 2014 and carefully restored from the original mixes, with the addition of guest vocals from Douglas McCarthy and Chloe.

We pick out the twisted techno of ‘Plexus’, where swirling arpeggiated synths and minimal percussion create a mesmerising sonic haze.

PINK LUNCH is out Dec 1 via Pre-. Pre-order it here.
