First Listen: Komon & Appleblim – ‘Know Yourself’ (Beatnik Boulevard)

Berlin-based producer Appleblim and Bristol heavyweight Komon return to us this December with a collaborative 12″ via Beatnik Boulevard.

The label was inaugurated by Appleblim back in May with the release of ‘Conch Shell Motives’, followed closely by Swayzak’s ‘Gestures of a Sycophant’. Know Yourself is the first we’ve heard from this particular team-up since 2014’s ‘Motion Blur’, released on Aus Music.

In keeping with the duo’s previous output, this three-track effort strikes a fine balance between crystalline, rarefied sonics and muscular bass pressure.

Today we’re giving you an exclusive first listen to the devastatingly rhythmic ‘Know Yourself’. The track starts off as a powerful 2-step roller set beneath shimmering, atmospheric dub synths, but quickly transforms into something a little more unfamiliar. Around the ninety-second mark, a frenetic vocal sample pairs with a calamitous bassline to amp up the energy and send this one out into the stratosphere. Listen below.

Know Yourself is out December 15 via Beatnik Boulevard. Pre-order here.
