First Listen: Jakwob – ‘Ghost Optics’ (Boom Ting Recordings)

James Edward Jacob, better known as electronic producer Jakwob, rose to fame in 2009 after a series of bootleg remixes for high profile artists like Ellie Goulding went viral across the web.

Coming out of the dubstep scene at a point when the movement was crossing into more ‘accessible’ territory and reaching a wider global audience, the London-based producer has since remained versatile within his sound, producing for artists like Little Simz and Meridian Dan as well as releasing records via Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy imprint and his own label Boom Ting Records.

Following a recent debut on Tiga’s Twin Turbo outfit, Jakwob continues to explore the darker edges of bass music, with new five-track EP Lifted journeying through eerie euphoria with broken beat, techno and percussive drive.

Ahead of Lifted’s release we’re excited to premiere cut ‘Ghost Optics’, where twisted breaks and deadly bass pressure compete for the forefront. Check below.

Lifted is out October 10 on Boom Ting Recordings.
