Research is the brand new project/label from London based experimental publisher Split Music, who’ve rapidly gained a reputation for placing music in audiovisual projects as notable as movie trailers like Blade Runner 2049, The Dark Tower & Mother to brand films for globally recognised designers Adidas, Dior & Puma.
Representing a number of highly talented artists that includes Headless Horseman, These Hidden Hands, Library Tapes, Orca and more, Split Music’s new label Research plans to showcase new music from musicians by challenging them to push the boundaries of their production process to new levels.
Their introductory compilation LP Spheres, calls upon an elite and specialist group of artists for this rhythmically experimental investigation. The V/A compilation delves into the darker realms of the productions circuit and aims to transport the music beyond the environment of the dance floor.
Premiering today, we have the German artist Grebenstein, taking centre stage. The producer, DJ and visual artist produces a terminating track that utilises a varied array of murky noises and synthesiser pulses, to form a pulsating and stripped back weapon.
Spheres is out November 24 on Research. More info here.
