Influenced early on in life by his father’s passion for Belgian New Beat, and later on his own love of the UK’s post dubstep movements, Brussels based Cabasa has been crafting a name for himself within the sphere of leftfield Techno. He has so far released music via Eddy Larkin, Eclipse Tribez and No Suit, but for his latest effort he is joining the burgeoning Roster of Middle Eastern label and party Boogie Box.
His new record, Excess, is rich with arpeggiated synthesisers, carefully layered textures and rolling, off kilter percussion. The polyrhythmic title track ‘Excess’ has also received the remix treatment from UK producer and fellow Boogie Box affiliate Otik, who eases the original in a more dub techno direction, doubling down on the original’s bright reverbs and sparse arrangement while losing none of its pace.
Excess is set to land on February 6th, but before that you can exclusively preview the remix below, and if you want more from Otik why not revisit his guest slot from our current Reprezent Radio residency here.
