First Listen: Etch – ‘Predator’ (Green Village)

Debuting on Keysound with the killer Old School Methods EP back in 2013, Brighton producer Etch creates psychedelic bass-heavy productions that draw from the worlds of UK garage, dubstep, hip hop, jungle and beyond.

With releases on labels such as Lapsus, Soundman Chronicles, Wisdom Teeth and Purple City Soufflé, Etch’s music knows no boundaries, continuously evolving his sound palette by venturing into various templates of rave with a fresh take on every scene he inhabits.

His latest effort comes via New Jersey label Green Village. As one of four contributors, the label this time recruits wizkids’ from the U.K, with producers Thefft, TOYC, Eighth Ruin and BD1982 on board for their second Village Elders compilation.

As each provides their own twisted take on different strands of leftfield club music, we spotlight Etch’s ‘Predator’, which sees the breaks scientist in samurai mode, slicing drums to deadly precision with damaging low-end and glistening atmospherics. Stream in full below.
