5 local acts to catch at Leeds’ Inner City Electronic 2020
TweetWith Freakenstein, Laura Jones, Zoya and more.
Inner City Electronic is a 24 hour showcase of all that is magnificent about partying in Leeds.
The third year of the event offers conferences, workshops, panels, and plenty of parties at a range of venues from big to small.
Parties are hosted by Love International, Flux, Meat Free, 20/20 Vision, Truelove and many more while the likes of Craig Richards, Nicolas Lutz, HAAi, James Holroyd and many more all line up on Saturday March 7th.
Here we shine a light on five of the best local acts playing.
1. Freakenstein
Intergalactic booty hunter Freakenstein is better known as Leeds legend and Back to basics resident Tristan da Cunha. This new project has seen him launch a new label and party called Hearlucinate, where electro is the main sound: “using futuristic frequencies and sci-fi sonics to shake your bones and bounce your backsides: is his simple mission.
2. Laura Jones
This long time Leeds stalwart quickly rose through the ranks to release on the best labels out there, from Visionquest to Crosstown to Sensoramic, which is the outlet she has run herself since 2016. AS a DJ, Jones has the ability to draw on a wide range of house and techno so expect her to do the same at her home gig.
3. Zoe Pea
Anyone even remotely familiar with the Leeds scene will know that ‘Strength in Free Space’ founder Zoe Pea is one of the more eclectic and inspiring selectors to have emerged over the past few years. She is part of the Equaliser collective and has a wide ranging sound.
4. Zoya
Zoya’s Bathtime Sessions are well loved for their immersive ambient sounds. She can also tear it up with just as much skill, however, with a penchant for experimental and everything in between. Her rising stock makes her a star in the making so check her out on home turf for a fine showcase.
5. Sayang
Sayang is all about high energy sets. She founded her own techno-fetish party, is a vocal activist who furthers equal rights, explores race and queerness and lays down sleazy sets taking in everything from Chicago house to industrial. She’s played all over Europe and has a Rinse FM show well worth checking out.
Inner City Electronic 2020 takes places on March 7th & 8th across various venues in Leeds.
