This June we’re back with another stellar line up representing the heart and soul of On the 5th Day.
Room one of our beloved Corsica Studios will unite three massively pioneering techno dons, each bringing a superabundance of experience, dedication and refined artistry with them, spanning over a combined 75+ years!
Kick-starting proceedings will be DJ, producer and label owner, Edit Select, setting the pace for the night with his deeply engrossing sound which has reached an array of reputable imprints over recent years; also responsible for one of the absolute go-to labels if you’re on the hunt for sophisticated, deep musical art pieces (Edit Select). Once the room is nice and toasty, Edit will pass the baton to one of the most pioneering artists to come from Japan, sitting at the heart of its thriving underground scene, Takaaki Itoh. Takaaki’s skills, distinctive, whacky sound and high-energy performances are for us, second to none. He blew 5th Day’ers minds at our October 2017 event so it was a no brainer to lock him in again, quick sharp! Finally, Steve Bicknell will take to the booth, a musical connoisseur rooted in the foundations of the UK’s techno scene; performing since the late 80s, responsible for the legendary Lost parties (launched in 1991) and now part of the ‘LSD’ collaboration with Luke Slater and Function. Bicknell’s musical history, consistently searing track selection and unshakeable devotion to keeping the focus on the music makes him a dream On the 5th Day guest.
As if that wasn’t enough, room two will be hosted by some of the most exciting talent to circulate today’s scene, with Resin owner, Pris taking over for three hours, joined by residents Matt Hayes and Abstract Man. Genuine originality in techno isn’t always easy to find and so it was Pris’ unique sound and style which first caught our attention, his wonderfully distinct productions finding a happy home on his own label as well as the hugely reliable Avian and Semantica imprints. Since then, we’ve been closely following this underrated artist with curiosity and excited anticipation and it gives us great pleasure to welcome him for his first London performance since 2014! As a Londoner himself, we know this will be a very special reunion with our beautiful capital city.
