Tropical Disco Records with Joey Negro & Marshall Jefferson

Night Tales 14 Bohemia Pl, London E8 1DU, United Kingdom

Under some party-ready railway arches along Hackney’s aptly named Bohemia Place you’ll find Night Tales. Boasting a fully equipped Function 1 sound system and London’s largest yet still impressively idyllic beer garden, we thought it the perfect home for the most extravagant Tropical Disco soiree to date.

For this session we’ve pulled out all the stops, rolling from 8pm with a carefully curated line up highlighting the contemporary and the original tastemakers, who we wouldn’t be doing this without their influence.

Long-time friend and certified disco royalty Joey Negro heads up the bill, a DJ who’s bag is full of hearty soul, glittering electro and house forming one of – if not the best collection of dance music we’ve ever heard. The musical unpredictability yet technical consistency Joey Negro repeatably nails with his sets is vastly revered and we’re thrilled to be hosting him on this special night.

Alongside Joey we welcome the undisputable ‘Godfather of House’ Marshall Jefferson. Marshall will be showcasing a rare and exclusive disco set, a genre he has an unfathomable knowledge of but often doesn’t have the opportunity to fully explore in his sets.

As always Tropical Disco founders Moodena and Sartorial will be bringing their signature grooves on the night. The last year has seen the pair take dancers on journeys of self-discovery, ecstasy and hedonistic rampage all over Europe, while keeping up a rapid release schedule, which has seen several number 1 spots for their own productions.

Tropical Disco resident Dylan Pasqua completes the bill.

The Basement:
Kiwi brothers Beans and Louis Helliker-Hales, who now take refuge in Peckham, have made a significant mark on the UK underground scene in recent years.

Having previously released through international labels such as Paris’ Clek Clek Boom, London’s Hot Haus and Montreal’s Amadeus, the siblings aired a 4-track EP aptly titled ‘Midnight in Peckham’ via Rhythm Section International in 2016, which took us away from their bassy past and into a realm of soulful and elegant deep house music.

They are joined by young London jazz sensation Kamaal Williams AKA Henry Wu. Known for spearheading a new musical wave in the capital, Henry Wu is from Rhythm Section upbringings, also championing the Yussef Kamaal project with eclectic drummer Yussef Dayes.

Green Room:
Taking over the Green Room are the nighttime marauders of Rhythm Section – International Black Records. Self-described as follows: “International Black is heads down, arms up.International Black is for your mind, your body and your soul. International Black is late nights and early mornings. International Black is the sound when the lights go off.” You get the gist.

FYI Chris, Mallard x LT and Phrased flag the ship on June 21st.
