Resolution – Retest

Venue MOT Unit 18 Orion Business Centre, Surrey Canal Rd SE14 5RT

Line-up /
Minor Science, Loraine James, Will Lister, Alexis

Resolution presents the first edition of “Retest”, our new events series focused on blending the forward thinking technological ethos and immersive nature of Resolution with London’s innovative and thriving club culture.

We’ll be taking over the industrial DIY setting of Venue MOT Unit 18, presenting Minor Science, along with Loraine James, Will Lister and Alexis.

Minor Science (Whities)

Minor Science has been described as producing “hi-tech music which doesn’t quite sound like anything else out there”. The producer’s hybrid vision is reflected in his precise, frenetic DJ sets, which enact striking collisions of techno, electro and UK sounds. His recorded mixes have routinely featured in best-of roundups from Pitchfork, Crack Magazine and FACT. He’s seen his debut EP release “Noble Gas” in 2014 through Trilogy Tapes, as well as multiple EP releases on Whities, one which included his 2017 hit “volumes”, featured on end of year lists from FACT, Mixmag, Crack Magazine, XLR8R and Resident Advisor.

Loraine James (Hyperdub Records)

North London native Loraine James effortlessly blends Electronica and IDM with whispers of jazz and ambience all wrapped up in the artists key avant-garde aesthetic and sensibility. Having recently released ‘Button Mashing’ on New York Haunted and signed with Hyperdub, Loraine has gone on to play at Shankra Festival in Switzerland, Germany and Splice Festival at Rich Mix. Having had her perform alongside Renick Bell and producing one of the most memorable live show of any previous Resolution event yet, we are extremely excited to finally be able to bring her intricate genre pushing live show to the dance floors in a club environment.

Will Lister (Cin Cin, Phonica Records)

Will Lister’s impact on the London scene in the last few years has been significant, having released with the esteemed Phonica Records at 18, as well as most recently, Cin Cin. His recent release with Trinidadian Deep gained support from the likes of Bonobo, Josey Rebelle, Alexander Nut, and other tastemakers in the electronic music scene. Behind the decks Will has the ability to hold a dance floor effortlessly using his deeper knowledge of the heavier cuts, which reflects his passion to delve into a production style with a darker atmospheric soundscape, whilst retaining his signature synth and broken percussion.

Alexis (Balamii Radio)

Alexis has come a long way since playing our first Resolution night nearly two years ago. Known as one of South London’s finest rising stars, having made her name at Balamii Radio, Alexis found herself at the centre of a network of international influences whose orbit equipped her with the requisite skills for club fluency. Fresh from appearances alongside Objekt, Batu, Nina Kraviz, Ryan Elliot, and many more, she’s a breath of fresh air in an environment where stagnancy means staleness. She’ll be bringing mature selections that manifest themselves into an onslaught of groove-laced techno, electro, EBM and house.
