Images showing the composition of ‘UKG’, photographer Ewen Spencer’s book on the UK Garage scene, have been uploaded to Facebook.
Spencer has made his name photographing youth and subculture, whilst working independently and for publications such as The Face and Sleazenation, as well as producing film and photography work for Massive Attack and The White Stripes. The Brighton based photographer made garage the subject of his last exhitbition ‘Brandy & Coke?‘ and now follows this up with the imminent publication of ‘UKG’. Prefaced with an introduction by Mike Skinner ( whom Spencer has worked with in the past ) and including an essay by Jason Evans, the book focuses on the early days of garage and is set to published by GOST Books. The photos below show Spencer at EBS Printing in Italy as he oversees the printing of the book, in a tantalising preview of what lies in store.
