Following up from last Friday’s teaser video, Yamaha have released more details of their latest flagship synthesiser, Montage.
Equipped with a variety of dynamic features, the Montage is a hybrid of two classic sound engines – AWM2 (high-quality waveform and subtractive synthesis) and FM-X (modern, pure Frequency Modulation synthesis). These two engines can be freely zoned or layered across eight parts in a single Montage Performance. Interaction with the system is achieved through the hilariously titled ‘Super Knob’ – a highly programmable motion control which gives you control over multiple parameters simultaneously, allowing the user to explore and create new sounds not possible on previous hardware synthesisers.
Yamaha have yet to announce the price and official release date of Montage, but are expected to reveal more information at the NAMM conference in California later on this week.
