Watch A Video To Om Unit’s Remix Of A DnB Classic

A kung-fu inspired clip of Om Unit’s forthcoming remix of Nasty Habit’s classic ‘Shadow Boxing’ has surfaced on You Tube.

Coming out on 31 Records in 1996 under Doc Scott’s Nasty Habits alias, ‘Shadow Boxing’ occupies a respectably high position in many people’s ‘Greatest DnB Tunes Of All Time List’.  A menacing slice of amen accented dread that can darken up any dance, the original here is given a 2014 update by none other than Jim Coles aka. Om Unit. Showing his Drum n  Bass credentials via releases on Metalheadz last year and his none-more scatty Philip K.Dick side project, Coles is a wise choice of remixer here, as he respects the source material whilst applying his own distinct touch. Not trying to match the original’s breaks for intensity, Coles instead focuses on highlighting the brooding soundscapes at a tempo friendly to non DnB DJ’s.

Out now on 31 Records (paired on a 12″ with the original), the remix has been paired with a pleasingly retro montage of Kung Fu film footage, with the result available to watch below.
