Watch a pair of Holly Herndon lectures from Ableton’s Loop summit

Ableton have shared a pair of films from their inaugural Loop event in Berlin, both featuring Holly Herndon.

Loop took place in October 2015 and was a summit for music makers, consisting of a series of lectures, workshops and panel discussions.

The first of these videos is Herndon’s lecture on the role that process plays in her creative vision. Using audio and visual examples from her recent work, she reflects on how everything from government surveillance to internet age aesthetics inform her mission to capture the “sound of now”.

The second film shows Herndon’s follow up conversation with Jace Clayton (aka DJ Rapture). Over the course of 20 minutes, the two forward-thinking producers touch on subjects such as artistry as activism, working in both club and academic contexts, and the role of optimism and euphoria in electronic music.
