2010 was undoubtedly a lucrative year for the UK bass scene as a whole, and most certainly a fertile year for a certain James ‘Breakage‘ Boyle. His second LP ‘Foundation’ was released on Shy FX’s fast growing imprint Digital Soundboy, and his minimalistic remix of Claire MacGuire’s ‘Ain’t Nobody’ was championed by many including a certain, ever fanatical, kiwi Radio One DJ. ‘Foundation’ featured a collection of UK bass affiliates including Skream, Burial, Roots Manuva, David Roddigan and Newham Generals’s, spawning singles ‘Run Em Out’ and the unavoidable ‘Hard’.
Kicking off 2011, Breakage has hooked up with vocalist Jess Mills for ‘Fighting Fire’ a straight up crossover-hit-in-the-making that’s already recieving support from Annie Mac, Mista Jam, Benga and Dub Police boss Caspa. Expect much more from these two in 2011 with Breakage invited to produce Mills’s debut album for Island records.
‘Fighting Fire’ is released Feburary 28th on Digital Soundboy.
