The London producer’s latest video is an intriguing day-in-the-life sequence.
Sri Lankan-born, South London-based producer and visual artist Suren Seneviratne AKA My Panda Shall Fly is a refreshingly eccentric talent in the often staid world of electronic music. He first gained recognition back in 2010 for the off-kilter remix work he provided Pirate Soundsystem and Terror Danjah; solo and collaborative material (alongside Benjamin Jackson and Will Ward) has followed in the time since, with releases on Growing Records, Five Easy Pieces and XVI.
Seneviratne’s sound is unusual, organic and textured, and more often than not accompanied by a unique visual offering. His latest is ‘Opening Brace’, a collaboration with fellow Londoner Adventure Elephant. The track itself is a trippy, atmospheric number that provides the soundtrack to a video documenting a day in the life of My Panda Shall Fly. The producer plays narrator, with subtitles and comical silent gestures explaining the various friends, family members and locations that appear in a montage of homelife and clublife – we love this. Check the video below.
‘Opening Brace’ is released March 25th alongside ‘Maccron Accent’ as a very limited 7″ on Tape Club Records. You can pre-order here.
